When you think of comics, you think of Marvel and DC, at least for most of us. But did you know that there are a plethora of comic book publishers out there for you to explore. We list 5 comic book publishers you should be keeping an eye on this year.
Boom! Studios
The company that was founded in 2005 by Ross Richie is one that should be on your radar. Any comic book enthusiast will tell you about hours of fun reading adaptations of Adventure Time. Be sure that you will not regret picking up the new creator-owned titles including John Flood, and We(l)come Back.
Kodansha Comics
Attack on Titan created huge waves among readers. Creators like Scott Snyder, Gail Simone & Cameron Stewart are out there preparing an entire anthological series. Kodansha although a fairly new publication house (founded in 2008), but they are definitely headed to become the next big thing. Do keep a look-out for these publishers.
Udon Entertainment
If you are a comic book lover, and haven’t read anything by Udon Entertainment, you are missing out on something. They not only feature new characters from Street Fighter V but also feature three new short stories about Rashid butting heads with the classic World Warriors.
Valiant Entertainment
One of the oldest publications on this list, this long-standing publishing house is now rolling out the solo series, Faith that features a superhero who is a fangirl-turned-hero. The previous comics under this banner, including Squirrel Girl and Batgirl, have been very successful. There is no reason why this one won’t match the popularity of its predecessors.
Aftershock Comics
The youngest publishing house on the list, launched just last year (2015), is already in league with the big names in the comics industry due to their originality. With comics like Dreaming Eagles and American Monster, they are off to a great start, and should surely be on your list of must-read comics.
